Mr. Gene Haas opens combined showroom and training facility in Poland

Zaventem, Belgium. May 25th, 2014: Haas Automation has opened its 36th Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) showroom in Europe and its 79th Haas Technical Education Centre (HTEC) on the Continent. The combined facility is located in the south of Poland. Guest of honour at the event was Haas Automation founder and president, Mr. Gene Haas.

On May 13th at Centrum Kształcenia Praktycznego i Ustawicznego (CKPiU), a public education institute and centre for learning in Zabrze, 150 guests gathered to witness this important event. Polish dignitaries joining Mr. Haas at the ribbon cutting included Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik, Mayor of the Zabrze region, and Jerzy Buzek, ex-Prime Minister of Poland (1997-2001) and ex-President of the European Parliament (2009 – 2012).

Speaking of the new HTEC, Mr. Buzek said: “This wonderful training programme will help to deliver valuable, practical experience. It will completely change the situation of our young people as they will more easily find work and will not have to leave Poland to begin their careers, as is so often the case.”

The goals of the project are to provide strong support for entrepreneurs and students from Zabrze and the Śląska region, as well as the education and training of future CNC machine operators. The HTEC programme is the only CNC training project of its type in Poland.

Industrial companies and manufacturers in the region can take advantage of the new premises, to consult experienced staff and view the latest Haas CNC machine tools. As with all HFO facilities, spare parts and industry-leading service and support will be provided for local Haas customers.

The exclusive Haas distributor in Poland, Abplanalp Consulting, provided the Haas CNC machines, the tooling and the CAM software for the new facility. In turn, CKPiU renovated the showroom and training space to create a pleasant environment suitable for both CNC trainees and also prospective customers.

“As the dealer for Haas CNC machine tools in Poland, we offer a wide range of new technologies to help manufacturing companies grow,” states Maciej Śmigrodzki, President of Abplanalp. “However, it’s impossible to introduce process improvements without having people who understand machining. This new HFO and HTEC will do both: support metalworking companies in finding the best precision engineering solutions, and help educate and train young people in CNC machining to the highest level possible.”

Richard Gruca, Director of CKPiU added: “Thanks to this co-operation with Haas and Abplanalp Consulting, our students will now learn all the steps of modern machining operations and will gain valuable certification to help them find jobs with local businesses.”

Senior executives from Haas were also present at the grand opening, including: Mr. Jens Thing, the recently appointed Managing Director of Haas Automation Europe; Mr. Peter Zierhut, Vice President, European Operations and Special Projects.

During the event, Mr. Gene Haas presented a cheque for $4,950 to Zespół Szkół Zawodowych Ząbkowice Śląskie, a technical school in southern Poland. The award was made as part of the recent scholarship fund gifted by Mr. Haas through the Gene Haas Foundation.

CKPiU is the 13th HTEC in Poland. Four more are planned this year at Stargard, Solcu Kujawski, Krosno and Białystok.''
